How Do Spiders Get into My Vehicle?

Believe it or not, spiders are able to crawl into your vehicle through small cracks near the roof of the car. As well, when windows or doors are left open, spiders use that opportunity to sneak in. Once inside the vehicle, the spider will probably go hide in the air vent, a crevice on the dash, or behind a mirror. The odds of seeing a spider the moment you enter the vehicle is rare. It is only when the vehicle is started and the vibrations of the vehicle startle the spider do we see our new arachnid friend. When the spider is disturbed, it is likely to crawl out onto the dash or the ceiling.

How Do I Get Rid of Spiders in My Car?

Getting rid of spiders and keeping them away is quite simple. There are certain scents that spiders do not like. Some of these include citrus, peppermint, and eucalyptus. Take a cotton ball or a piece of fabric, dip it in vinegar, and then spray it with one of these three scents. Then, place that material throughout the vehicle including the glovebox and other confined areas. If you notice spiders have been gravitating toward a certain area, place one of these scented fabrics there. Replenish the scent every week to keep spiders away.

You may also want to consider cleaning your vehicle once a week or every other week. By simply vacuuming and dusting your vehicle, you are not only getting rid of current spiders, but you are making it so future spiders do not find your vehicle hospitable. It only takes a few minutes to run a damp rag over the dash and to brush the dirt off the car mat.
